AML Assistant Manager (Malta)

Our client, a world-wide recognised financial institution, currently seeking to recruit an Anti Money Laundering Team Leader.

In this role you will be responsible for a team of individuals, working together on all aspects of Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti Money Laundering (AML) and dealing with the Front Office, Legal & Compliance Department, Risk Management Department and IT Office with respect to profiles and accounts.

As the team leader you will be expected to drive your team to achieve desired goals. You will act as the main point of reference for management, clients and the team. Your role will include coordinating the work flow within TMC Non Lending, follow up and fine tuning of new implemented handling processes, participating in interdepartmental meetings, managing the staff within TMC Non Lending, preparing statutory and ad hoc report, attending to customers’ general requests/inquiries, authorising messages on SWIFT, checking account opening documentation for new accounts together with the AML officer, vetting account opening documents for existing accounts and following up the missing/expired documents, authorising opening of accounts and amendments on the system, reporting to the MLRO re general inquiries and inquiries from FIAU, reporting to the Legal and Compliance Department regarding inquiries from Law Courts and Correspondent institutions.

You will be a mature individual, having a solid background in managing people with at least 5 years experience in Anti Money Laundering (AML), ideally as a certified AML officer having a full understanding of the legal requirements in connection with AML and account opening. Having excellent leadership skills, being able to adapt to change and an assertive yet approachable approach is important for this position.
