Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

A highly reputable client of ours specialised in the FMCG and Manufacturing sectors is looking to onboard a seasoned Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO); The designated person will oversee and be wholly responsible for shaping the financial vision and driving the financial health and growth of the Group, and will ultimately be the key advisor to the Group MD and Board:

Duties:

  • Drive the financial aspects of Group strategy, including investment decisions, while collaborating with the executive leadership team to identify opportunities for growth and operational improvement.
  • Lead the financing strategy, developing and maintaining relationships with financial institutions, investors, and various stakeholders.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Group CEO and Board on financial and strategic matters as well as the executive team and Board to shape the Group’s strategic direction.
  • Identify and secure funding for growth initiatives, including acquisitions and market expansion.
  • Evaluate external funding options and optimise the Group's cash flow and capital structure.
  • Oversee capital allocation to ensure optimal resource use across business units, as well as financial performance across these units, setting performance targets aligned with strategic objectives. 
  • Establish robust KPIs to continuously monitor financial and operational performance.
  • Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Oversee Group-wide cost optimisation strategies to maximize efficiency, particularly crucial for manufacturing and distribution operations.
  • Present financial updates, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to the Board.
  • Implement and oversee financial governance policies and risk management frameworks, while ensuring the Group adheres to financial regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Lead the development of and oversee tax strategy, ensuring compliance and optimisation across jurisdictions.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration
  • Ensure robust governance structures and internal controls across all financial functions.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing and international finance.
  • 15+ years in progressive finance roles, with at least 5 years at executive Group leadership level.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial governance, internal control, risk management, and compliance.
  • Commendable negotiation and communication skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Fluency in Maltese will be considered an asset
  • Proven success in managing complex financial operations.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.
  • Warranted and Chartered Accountant
  • An Accounting degree or a recognised professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA
