Senior Financial Analyst

  Central Malta  |  €50,000 - €60,000 Annually 

An international company operating in the tourism/ hospitality industry is currently on the lookout for a Senior Financial Analyst to join their team.

Duties include: 

  • Variance Analysis: Perform in-depth variance analysis of financial data by comparing actual results with budgeted or forecasted figures. Provide detailed explanations for discrepancies to management and identify fixed and variable costs for group reporting. This includes both ocean and river vessels (EU/Asia).
  • Management Reporting: Generate ad hoc reports on cruise vessel operations as required by management to analyze cost variations across different categories.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop annual cruise vessel budgets and quarterly forecasts, collaborating with various departments to collect necessary data.
  • Cost Control: Identify potential cost-saving measures and propose strategies to enhance financial performance.
  • Data Analysis: Apply advanced analytical methods to assess financial data, identify key trends, and provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including marketing, IT, and operations, to align financial objectives. Maintain a strong working relationship with Accounting Managers to ensure accurate reporting of actuals.
  • Compliance: Assist in identifying areas for improvement and contribute to drafting policies and procedures. Oversee approvals to ensure adherence to established controls.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess and refine financial processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy, including supporting management with ERP software integrations.
  • Internal Audit: Conduct onboard audits to verify the effectiveness of controls, inspect warehouses and other facilities, and report findings to management.
  • ESG Responsibilities: Manage group requirements related to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) matters.
  • Other Ad Hoc Tasks: Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong focus on variance analysis and management reporting
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools and software, including advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is preferred.
