Credit Risk Manager

A well-established Bank is looking for a Credit Risk Manager to join their team:

Responsibilities:

• Ensure adherence to the Bank’s Credit Risk Policies, guidelines, and procedures during loan transactions, while providing coaching to team members
• Maintain the Credit Risk profile of the Advances portfolio in line with approved Key Credit Risk Indicators (KCRIs)
• Evaluate and recommend lending proposals above a specified threshold, facilities deviating from guidelines, and Non-Performing exposures
• Conduct periodic risk-based checks as part of the second line of defense, ensuring timely communication with relevant units and contributing to biannual risk reports
• Stay informed about economic, political, social, and regulatory developments to suggest adjustments to Credit Risk Policy and Key Risk Indicators. 
• Oversee subordinate work, ensuring adherence to standards, timely task completion, and support the coordination of IT upgrades and regulatory reporting
• Participate in committees and meetings, including minute-taking responsibilities as needed

The client is open to considering less senior candidates. Salary package would be reflective of one's experience and qualifications.

Requirements

• 4 years of experience working within the second line of defense
• A minimum of 5 years of previous local working experience in a similar position in a Credit function with a strong retail/commercial banking background
• Fluent in both written and spoken English and Maltese

Education and Experience

• MQF Level 6 in Banking, Finance or Economics/CFA
