Risk Officer

A client of ours specialising in the Insurance sector is looking to onboard a Risk Officer to join their team of professionals:

Duties:

• Assisting the Risk Manager in maintaining the Risk Management Framework systems and processes, and to support the identification and evaluation of the key risks which the Company faces
• Reporting to the Risk Manager on findings from the risk assessment exercise including the coordination of risk mapping
• Maintaining easily retrievable risk related information
• Assisting in the completion of corporate risk models and the standard formula
• Supporting the Risk Manager in the promotion of an effective risk culture across the business
• Collaborating with risk related functions such as internal audit, actuarial, compliance, underwriting, and finance teams, under the guidance of the Risk Manager
• Supporting the Risk Manager in ensuring compliance with the Solvency II governance requirements and promoting sound corporate governance practices
• Contributing towards the Company’s Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan
• Monitoring compliance with investment parameters on a regular basis
• Assisting the Risk Manager in the oversight of Complaints Management delegated to outsourced providers
• Assisting the Risk Manager in monitoring and ensuring that the company remains compliant with the GDPR and the Data Protection Act
• Maintaining registers and reporting quarterly to the Risk Manager on Complaints, GDPR matters, Fraud Management and IT related issues

Requirements

• Interested and keen on IT developments that can be used to improve processes and/or results
• Strong team player with a good understanding of the nature and dynamics of risk and financial markets where the market context is highly complexand rapidly changing
• Knowledge of the insurance market, underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local regulatory environments and guidelines will considered an asset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Proficiency in foreign languages, particularly in French, German and/or Dutch will be considered an asset.

Education and Experience

• In possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, insurance, finance, mathematics or relevant subjects at a Malta Qualification Framework (MQF) Level 6 or better
