Ship Safety Officer

  Central Malta  |  €35,000 - €45,000 Annually 

Our client is looking for a Ship Safety Officer to join their team in Malta. You will primarily work on ensuring the company's vessels adhere to safety standards and compliance regulations. 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Safety Management System (SMS) Oversight: Monitor, review, and improve the Safety Management System onboard vessels to comply with regulations and standards.
  • Documentation Control: Ensure up-to-date documentation on vessels, removing outdated materials.
  • Inspection and Compliance: Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to procedures, handle any deficiencies, and coordinate with other departments to maintain vessel certifications.
  • Audit Coordination: Prepare and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are effective.
  • Vetting Support: Assist with vetting inspections and maintain vessel standards to meet industry expectations.
  • Project Assistance: Support the integration of new vessels into the Safety Management System.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience working in maritime safety.
  • Ability to manage documentation, track compliance, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with audits, marine safety regulations, and certification processes.
  • Ability to liaise with different departments, crew, and external bodies effectively.
  • Fluency in both Maltese and English.
