Electrical Upgrades Junior Engineer

  South of Malta  |  €30,000 - €35,000 Annually 

Our client is looking to recruit an Electrical Upgrades Junior Engineer to join their growing team. Reporting to the Technical Facilities Manage, this person will be responsible to:

  • Plan, organise, and manage electrical upgrades on the property, covering all systems, including lighting, HVAC, power distribution, and standby supplies.
  • Develop project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure efficient project execution and minimal disruption to airport operations.
  • Perform risk assessments, troubleshoot, and resolve issues promptly during the execution of work.
  • Develop detailed technical specifications for tender documents, ensuring clarity and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate bids, conduct comprehensive assessments, and recommend suppliers and contractors based on technical expertise, cost, and project fit.
  • Ensure all work complies with operational, security, and safety regulations, addressing any non-compliance issues swiftly.
  • Regularly audit and supervise third-party contractors to ensure adherence to regulatory, safety, and airport-specific standards.
  • Supervise extraordinary maintenance and upgrade works, emphasizing efficiency and safety improvements.
  • Monitor, assess, and coordinate closure of operational areas for project work, with timely notifications to stakeholders.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to risk management, identifying and mitigating potential project and operational risks.
  • Negotiate contracts, manage supplier relationships, and ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.
  • Control project-related expenses, maintain budget adherence, and oversee stock levels of necessary materials and supplies.
  • Provide detailed progress reports to stakeholders, documenting project milestones, challenges, and solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and communicate operational closures, ensuring all necessary notifications are timely and clear.
  • Ensure electrical infrastructure remains compliant with all applicable regulatory standards.
  • Regularly review and recommend improvements to existing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve system reliability.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new employees and trainees, with a focus on safety and operational protocols.
  • Be available for emergency call-outs to resolve critical infrastructure issues outside regular working hours.
  • Foster a supportive work environment and uphold a positive image for the company through professional interactions.

Requirements

  • Ability to quickly assess and resolve technical issues, with a proactive approach to identifying potential improvements and efficiencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Must be located in Malta holding local experience

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within a facilities or infrastructure environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, HVAC, and standby power supplies. Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
