Risk Manager

  Central Malta  |  €70,000 - €79,000 Annually 

Our client, operating in the Payments industry is looking to recruit a meticulous Risk Manager to hold a pivotal role in setting up their risk framework. The chosen candidate will be reporting to the Chief Risk Officer and working closely with the board. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute risk management strategies, policies, and frameworks aligned with the institution's risk tolerance and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain the business risk register and assist management in optimizing its utilization.
  • Oversee and evaluate a variety of risks, including operational, reputational, and those unique to their business model.
  • Spearhead the integration of the operational risk management framework into the broader risk management system.
  • Ensure organization-wide communication and implementation of risk management policies and controls through structured training programs.
  • Work closely with business units to identify and address risk exposures related to new products, services, or initiatives.
  • Offer expert advice on risk mitigation strategies and industry best practices.
  • Perform routine risk assessments and audits to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks.
  • Facilitate risk workshops with senior leadership to promote a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Create detailed risk management reports for executive committees and the board, emphasizing key trends, gaps, and recommended actions.
  • Lead the development and upkeep of the Internal Control Framework, including key performance and risk indicators (KPIs/KRIs).
  • Provide consultancy on new systems, procedures, and services, delivering technical control and governance advice prior to implementation.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role specialized on Risk with a regulated entity
  • Proven experience in developing risk mitigation strategies and implementing risk controls
  • Sound knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and industry guidelines
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • A self-starter who is assertive, takes initiative and enjoys a challenge

Education and Experience

  • Ideally a degree level of education or higher in a related field
