We are looking for an HSE Specialist to support the HSE Manager in enhancing occupational health and safety standards. This role includes conducting safety assessments, formulating internal guidelines, spearheading awareness initiatives, and devising strategies to mitigate environmental challenges.
Responsibilities:
Occupational Health & Safety
- Foster a culture of safety and ensure that Safety and Quality policies are consistently promoted and applied.
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) in line with the SMS Manual.
- Drive safety awareness across all operational areas
- Conduct daily safety inspections alongside managers and team leaders to uphold minimum safety standards.
- Assist in monitoring activities at daily, weekly, and monthly intervals as required by the HSE
Training and Risk Management
- Attend and document HSE committee meetings, ensuring timely distribution of meeting minutes.
- Collaborate on risk assessments and implement necessary control measures.
- Assist in organizing health and safety training in partnership with the Training Department.
- Coordinate with procurement for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), manage distribution, and maintain accurate records.
Environmental Compliance
- Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste in alignment with local regulations.
- Advocate for sustainable waste practices, including the "3Rs" (reduce, reuse, recycle).
- Maintain updated chemical inventories and ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available.
- Investigate environmental complaints and employee health concerns.
Requirements:
- NEBOSH International General Certificate, Diploma in Health and Safety, or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.
- Solid understanding of local health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Fluent in verbal and written English.
