Trusts Lawyer

Our client, operating within Financial Services is seeking to recruit a Lawyer specializing in trusts and fiduciary law. The selected candidate will have the following responsibilities:

• Advising clients on the establishment, administration, and dissolution of trusts, foundations, and other fiduciary structures in accordance with the Maltese law 
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating trust deeds, agreements, and related legal documentation
• Providing legal advice on trust and fiduciary matters, including tax, succession planning, asset protection, and estate planning
• Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including anti-money laundering and the requirements of the regulator 
• Liaising with regulatory authorities, clients, and other external parties to ensure smooth administration of fiduciary structures
• Monitoring and implementing legislative changes and advising clients on their impact
• Collaborating with colleagues in the corporate services and tax departments to provide integrated solutions to clients
• Supporting business development efforts by contributing to proposals, presentations, and other client-facing initiatives
• Managing junior lawyers and providing guidance where necessary.

Requirements

• A minimum 2 -3 years working within trusts and fiduciary ideally within a corporate services provider, law firm, or a financial institution
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong understanding of Maltese trust law, tax law, and corporate structures
• Excellent communication skills in English and Maltese, both written and verbal

Education and Experience

• Qualified lawyer with a warrant to practice law in Malta
