Reception/Vulnerability Officer - interim support

Location: EUAA HQ, Valletta Waterfront

Tentative start date: 01.04.2025, with a probationary period of 6 months.

Salary Category IV - Gross monthly: EUR 3,920.31

Job Description

The Reception/ Vulnerability Officer is part of the Quality Procedures and Tools sectors (QPTS) at the EUAA Centre for Operational support (C1). He/she works under the direct supervision of QPTS Coordinator for Reception and Vulnerability, reporting to the Head of Sector.

The main objectives of the sector are the following: 

  • Mainstream asylum and reception related contents, in line with CEAS, across the Agency operations, from inception phase to exit strategy
  • Ensure harmonisation of methodologies and linked activities in asylum and reception through the thematic working-groups approach

The duty station of the Reception/ Vulnerability Officer is the headquarter of the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) in Malta. 

The Reception/Vulnerability officer will be asked to travel for mission purposes. Assigned tasks:

  • Prepare/facilitate thematic working groups/exchanges for EUAA Asylum Teams implementing Operating Plans in EU+ Member States 
  • Support the preparation/facilitation of thematic workshops concerning reception and vulnerability related matters for EUAA Operations
  • Follow-up the implementation of the reception and vulnerability components of the ongoing EUAA Operating Plans in EU+ MS   
  • Support the QPTS focal point for reception and vulnerability for certain ongoing Operations  
  • Follow-up the design/update of other EUAA centres’ tools and other publications in the field of reception and vulnerability
  • Draft SOPs/work instructions/guidance/reports in support to Operations 
  • Support the designing/adaptation of tools for national contexts 
  • Support the Liaisons between other centres (C2 and C3) and C1 on reception and vulnerability related matters
  • Perform any other task in the interest of the sector.

Minimum requirement

  • A completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in the field of reception and vulnerability of asylum seekers 
  • Knowledge of Common European Asylum System - CEAS
  • Thorough Knowledge of English (level C1 in all dimensions as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or CEFRL) 
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office Suite, use of internet and web-based applications

Advantageous criteria

  • University degree in the fields of social work, psychology, public administration or international law
  • Professional experience in working in an international environment
  • Flexibility to undertake regular missions in different EU+ Member States
