Our client is seeking a Fiber Optic Specialist to manage the fiber backbone network, oversee capacity growth, and support project execution and fieldwork.
Responsibilities:
- Manage proactive schedules to ensure timely task completion and anticipate stakeholder needs.
- Serve as a reliable contact, coordinating project timelines to meet team and partner expectations.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure fiber optic network safety and reliability, addressing issues like cable damage or system degradation with prompt repairs or replacements.
- Use OTDRs to measure performance, diagnose signal loss, and ensure effective troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with engineers to design industry-standard, future-proof fiber optic networks.
- Ensure activities comply with GPON, WDM, and ITU standards.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
- Identify skill gaps and arrange training to ensure technical excellence.
- Address and resolve team challenges to maintain harmony and productivity.
- Evaluate performance, give feedback, and recognize achievements to foster continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading technician teams and managing on-site operations.
- Knowledge of Layer 1/2 Telecom standards and technologies (GPON, WDM, ITU).
- Proficient in fiber optic systems, splicing, and testing.
- Skilled in diagnosing and resolving network issues.
- Detail-oriented in installations and network updates.
- Strong communication skills with clients and stakeholders.
- Available for emergency repair standby and night shifts.
