The Planner oversees workflow between departments by creating and managing daily and weekly production schedules. This role ensures production requirements are met on time to facilitate efficient and profitable distribution. The Planner manages order intake to optimize capacity based on customer needs, maintains relevant systems to enable timely invoicing, and provides operational updates to support production departments and align with interconnected plans across business units.
Responsibilities
- Ensure daily production goals are met to satisfy customer expectations.
- Analyze and prepare production-related documents, providing data-driven insights to support the Planning Manager and inform procurement decisions for raw materials.
- Organize incoming orders into executable plans and communicate timelines to customers.
- Maintain local and centralized systems for order management, delivery scheduling, and invoicing preparation.
- Provide updates on paper forecasts and shipment schedules to site operations.
- Collaborate with Materials Management to plan and coordinate finished goods movement before shipment.
- Follow up with teams to expedite materials and documentation required to meet production schedules and customer expectations.
- Generate status reports on production progress, work-in-process, and raw material inventory.
- Engage with shop floor management daily to address manufacturing efficiency issues or provide additional information as needed by Operations, Customer Service, or Finance teams.
- Lead and organize planning meetings to resolve issues before job deployment on the production floor.
- Ensure that all stakeholders have access to the necessary information for production program execution.
- Assist in compiling and updating Technical Data Manuals, particularly for budgeting, including material usage and run rates.
Requirements
- Strong organizational skills to manage and format large amounts of information while handling multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with other Microsoft Office tools and scheduling software is a plus.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Quick learner with the ability to perform well under pressure.
Education and Experience
- Diploma or equivalent in Planning or Manufacturing is an asset.
- Experience in data-driven decision-making.
- Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
