Cargo Surveyor

Our well-established client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to join their team as a Marine Cargo Surveyor. In this role, the chosen candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections and surveys of cargo on ships and in ports to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Attending to survey of cargoes onboard vessels, in port areas as well as in land warehouses.
  • Following up with writing of a survey report and the collation of various shipping and insurance related documentation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Candidates must be fluent in English with excellent report writing skills, and fluency in Maltese is a must.
  • Must possess a local driving license.
  • Good educational background.
  • Prior experience working with shipping / freight forwarding / insurance companies or sea going career is a must.
  • As the role involves claim discussions and negotiation, applicants should have good communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and report discrepancies.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with the team.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various locations, including ports and ships.
  • Physical fitness and ability to climb ladders and move around in confined spaces.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a passion towards the maritime industry.
  • Qualifications in Marine Transportation, Maritime Studies, or a related field are an asset.
  • A Level Standard of Education as a minimum.
